Fiber optic star ceiling panels are one of the easiest ways to create a realistic night-sky effect in a home theater, media room, bedroom, cinema or commercial entertainment space. Unlike traditional fiber optic ceilings that require hundreds of individual fibers to be installed on site, FANXSTAR modular star ceiling panels are prepared before shipment to simplify the installation process.
The fiber optics, star pattern and related lighting components are pre-installed according to the selected configuration. The modular panels can then be connected and mounted to a compatible ceiling frame using the magnetic mounting points located at the corners of each panel.
Before installation, it is helpful to understand how the modular fiber optic star ceiling system works. FANXSTAR star ceiling panels combine an acoustic panel surface with pre-installed optical fibers and lighting components, allowing multiple panels to work together as one complete star ceiling.
FANXSTAR panels are made from approximately 9mm polyester fiber acoustic material. Standard panel sizes include 60 × 60cm and 60 × 120cm.
Magnetic mounting points are positioned at the four corners of each panel, allowing the panels to attach to a compatible metal or magnetic ceiling framework.

Use a laser level, chalk line or carefully measured reference points to establish the first row. The first installed panel determines the alignment of all following panels.

FANXSTAR modular panels use magnets located at the four corners of each panel. The ceiling therefore requires a compatible metal or magnetic mounting structure positioned to match the panel mounting points.
Determine whether the existing ceiling framework is suitable for the magnetic panel system. Standard non-metallic drywall alone does not provide a magnetic mounting surface.
If required, install the appropriate metal framework or mounting plates according to the project layout and supplied installation drawing. The supporting structure must be securely fixed to the building ceiling.
Confirm that the mounting structure is level and that its spacing matches the magnetic points at the four corners of each panel.
Complete the basic cable planning before installing all of the ceiling panels. Once the ceiling is covered, access to the rear of the panels becomes more limited.
In the standard FANXSTAR modular configuration, one controller can operate two panel lines, and the panels in each line are connected in series. Always follow the connection sequence supplied with your specific system.

Take extra time installing the first panel. Its position determines the alignment of every panel installed afterward.
Check the planned position and orientation of the panel before lifting it to the ceiling.
Make the required low-voltage panel connection before the rear of the panel becomes inaccessible. Keep cables neatly positioned behind the panel.
Lift the panel carefully and align the four corner magnets with the corresponding positions on the ceiling mounting structure.
Allow the magnetic mounting points to engage with the metal framework. Check that all four corners are properly seated and that the panel surface is level.
Check the panel edge against the reference line before continuing to the next panel.
After the first panel has been correctly positioned, continue installing the remaining panels row by row.
Follow the supplied series-connection sequence and connect the next panel before mounting it to the ceiling.
Keep all cables behind the panels and away from the visible panel joints. Do not allow connectors or cables to sit between magnetic contact points.
Align the four magnets and carefully attach the panel to the ceiling frame.
Make sure adjacent panels remain straight, level and visually consistent before moving to the next row.
Once the panel connections are completed, switch on the system and test all functions before considering the installation finished.
A fiber optic star ceiling is normally viewed in a dark environment. Turn off the main room lighting and inspect the finished ceiling from the main seating position. This helps identify uneven panel alignment or areas that need adjustment.
Cable routing should be planned first. Otherwise, panels may need to be removed again to complete connections.
Even a small angle error in the first row can result in noticeable misalignment across the finished ceiling.
Verify connector orientation before connecting. Do not force electrical connectors into place.
Keep wires away from the four magnetic mounting areas so that each corner can attach completely to the ceiling frame.
Test the system during installation. A loose connection is easier to locate while the relevant panel is still accessible.
Avoid drilling, cutting or trimming a pre-installed star panel unless the product design and supplied instructions specifically allow it. Optical fibers or wiring may be located behind the surface.
